EVA material is the common name we define as an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. Compared with polyethylene, EVA is widely used in heat shrink tubing, functional shed film, packaging film, hot melt adhesives, wire and cable and toys due to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer in the molecular chain, which reduces the high crystallinity and improves flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility and heat sealing. Generally speaking, the performance of EVA depends mainly on the content of vinyl acetate (VA) in the molecular chain. According to the different content of vinyl acetate in it, ethylene and vinyl acetate copolymers are divided into EVA resins, EVA rubber and EVA emulsions. The vinyl acetate content of less than 40% of the product for EVA resin; vinyl acetate content of 40%-70% of the product is very flexible, elastic characteristics, people will be this range of content of EVA resin is sometimes called EVA rubber; vinyl acetate content in the 70%-95% range is usually emulsion state, known as EVA emulsion. EVA material has good inclusivity and cross-linkability, it is because of these properties, so it is very suitable for the manufacture of heat-shrinkable tubes. As the main raw material for the production of heat shrinkable tubes, the quality of the EVA material is the first step in determining the quality of the heat shrinkable tubes. Our company uses high quality EVA material, according to the characteristics of each product, choose EVA resin with VA content between 15% and 22%, this VA content of EVA resin, with better mechanical properties, high toughness, low shrinkage, good construction process, moderate viscosity, more suitable for the production of heat shrinkable tubes.
EVA is characterised by good flexibility, rubber-like elasticity, still good flexibility at -50°C, transparency and surface gloss, good chemical stability, good ageing resistance and ozone resistance strength, non-toxic. Blending with fillers, colouring and molding processability is good. EVA material has other materials do not have the inclusiveness and cross-linkability, it is because of this performance, so it is suitable for irradiation cross-linked heat-shrinkable tube, halogen-free flame retardant cable, semiconductor shielded cable and two-step silane cross-linked cable in use, but also because of this performance is widely used in industry and manufacturing.
